Please describe what exactly is happening.

You are placing an image and it is darker?

You are exporting and it gets darker?

It gets darker while you work on it?

 

We need to know all the steps that lead to this including all applications that are being used and including your color management settings and color modes.

That does seem incorrect. Would you mind trying the suggestions shared in this community post to calibrate your monitor for sRGB (https://adobe.ly/3UKmU0n) and restarting your computer to check if it helps?
