Completely delete/crop/cut everything that doesn't fall within a clipping mask

A novice question.

I need to crop and delete all the artwork that doesn't fall within a clipping mask. Please, don't suggest Command+7, since it just hides artwork that doesn't fall within the mask.

What I need - crop and delete everything that is outside. Then, save to another vector file (not necessarily .ai, .svg may work too).

All my artwork is just lines, no raster. I need this for laser cutting.

The only thing I can find on the internet is Cmd+7 which does not work for my case (laser reads all the layers and all the artwork lines).

Thanks,

There is no automated crop. You have to slice it up with Pathfinder operations and manually delete any excess.

Please show your artwork.

The pathfinder Crop might not work, since it creates shapes.

It seems that my case is a little different.

Please see the picture attached. Pathfinder cropping had no effect.

My artwork is a myriad of lines representing a city map. I need just a small part of the city.

The Pathfinder will provide you with a solution.

1. Make an empty frame above everything.

2. Select everything, then go to pathfinder and find crop.

3. It will erase everything outside the box you've drawn.
