converting Jpeg format to SVG format?

Question

hello,I open an jpeg image in Illustrator and then I change its width and height ( Object/transform /scale ).then I  save it as svg format  on my computer directory.everything is OK besides the format of  the image which I converted to svg format it became larger in size than its jpeg size.as example I  have saved an image as svg format . its jpeg size was 392  KB  and when I saved it as svg format it became  583KB .how it comes that this picture becomes larger in size ( KB) in place of to be more smaller in size(kb) as svg format?am I converting this image in Illustrator in the right way or I am using the wrong way? I read in google that when you convert an image from jpeg to svg it has to become more  smaller in size in place of to be larger!thanksjohannes

thanks ,I understand now ,  I am just learning to build websites and this website which I will develop is my first website.but to be sure I read that svg format is responsive , so it is better to use it ,because it will not use any of its quality when it shrinks or get bigger in size on every device.what can be your last advise for me , I wil appreciate.thanks againjohannes SVG won't lose quality only when it's pure vector.JPEG images can only be responsive on the web, in case you provide sufficient resolution or use scripting to load different images when resizing.You might research "responsive images". There are different techniques to achieve this. Maybe do also ask in the Adobe Dreamweaver or Muse forums.

thanks ,I converted every image with auto repair and auto push to svg format.so you tell me that images like nature,person or auto repair will not make any sense.to be wiser make I ask why it will not make much sense?is the SVG only to use for logo's?johannes
