Converting multiple SVG files to Symbol Library (Batch SVG to Symbol library script)

I have an iconset saved as individual SVGs (all same size and format). I want to add them all as symbol set in illustrator so I can seach an use them in my work. Adding symbols one by one in Illustrator is very slow and time consuming and I have so many icons it would take weeks/months to add them individually. Here's my current workflow:

- Open blank AI document (for symbol library)

- Copy SVG icon

- Drag to Symbol Palette

- Rename Symbol

- Change export type to "Graphic"

- Click okay

- Repeat above steps for every icon

There must be a faster way - any help would be great and I've looked into scripting but don't have any experience there. I am looking for a script to add my selection of SVGs and add them to a symbol library using the SVGs filename instead of "New Symbol". Any help would be great!

Thanks

Why don't you import/upload all the files directly into CC Libaries?

Hi Joely,

I just tried it and it works! Thank you!

Is there a way to export the library? I'm not really familiar with the cclibs format - mainly use ase, ait & ai symbol files. I tried exporting the library but unsure what is stored in the file. For instance does the cclibs file contain the artwork or does it just link to my CC library with the artwork?
