Hello, I have a sign business and trying to learn how to vectorize raster images for the purposes of design and eventual printing and cutting.  I'm struggling to follow Illustrator help and would appreciate any assistance to simplify this process.   I am currently using a simple black and white image as a self-training exercise.   Thanks in advance....   Len

Can you be specific about what you're having trouble with?

In a raster format, the image is pixelated and the edges are not straight, smooth lines.   Therefore, the image is not suitable for large format printing or cutting.   I need the edges of the image to be smooth and the only way to achieve that is to vectorize the image.

Right. Where in the process of attempting this using Illustrator are you getting stuck?
