Question

copy and pastę changes size

Whenever I copy and paste this group of objects, it comes out .125pt larger, just enough to drive my OCD crazy! Reducing the size of the pasted group does not bring it back exactly, the lines are not precise.

Align to Grid, Smart Guides, Pixel Grid, etc, are all off.

If you outline stroke it's .125pt larger, so I'm assuming your strokes are still strokes in the pasted into doc and not shapes?

Or your measurement prefs in your paste into doc include stroke thickness, but not sure how that happens with one set of prefs though...

I cannot reproduce it on my Mac with your file.

Maybe someone comes up with a better idea than reïnstalling Illustrator.

Works fine for me; 134 pt.

The only way I can get the size to display larger wis when Use Preview Bounds is turned on  in Preferences or Align panel menu.

Thanks for trying. Preview Bounds is definitely turned off. I get 134.125 pt every single time. Even if I copy and paste into a brand new document.

I would try to see if restarting your computer helps.

If not, backup things like your custom swatches, brushes, workspaces  and see if resetting Preferences helps:
