Copy and pasting within illustrator

I have been having a lot of issues since friday when I copy and paste vector files within illustrator.

Sometimes vector items will paste as raster objects

Global swatches are not being kept when pasting into a new document. Even if the swatch is already in the swatches list its not using it.

Objects will ungroup themselves when being pasted into a new document

I am working in cmyk in both documents

I have tried unintalling and reinstalling the program

Copying and pasting in Illustrator can be a bit tricky at times. Sometimes, objects do not paste as expected but once you get the hang of it, it works smoothly!

Hello @sadie_9224,

Would you mind trying to run Illustrator under Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps? Also, try disabling third-party plugins or programs when running Illustrator and share your observations.

I think I figured it out. I think it was my new remote program that was not playing nice with illustrator.
