Crash when working with specific pattern design files - Illustrator on Windows

Hi, I am new to Adobe products. My girlfriend has been using my gaming computer for photoshop and illustrator. She is a patterns designer and creates repeat patterns within adobe illustrator, using swatches. For some reason a specific file when opened and upon any movement within the file. It crashes, (not responding) it takes about 60 seconds to unfreeze and then if you move again it will freeze again and again. The file size is only 11MB, where a different file we can open is 20MB and works perfectly fine. The program is using my 4090 GPU but the crashing also happens when intel graphics is being used.
