create a simple outline from any image

Hi all,  I have a flat image from PS, converted to AI. it's a sipmle B&W image. Just want to create outline path of outline of black part of the image.  So I can cut the ouline on my vinyl plotter?

Although it is not too difficult to create with the vector tools in Illustrator, you can try Object > Image Trace

In the Advanced options check Ignore White.

DISCO! I was using the image traceTracing script, not object > image Trace!!!!! Thats IT!!

For the record I tried ImageTracing script. It asked for soucre and destination folder, then batch complete, then nothing. No changes. No new file....nothing.

This is weird because in PS you can just use magic wand and grab the black image from the white backround. Same idea, I just need an outline path for my plotter to cut. seem basic, but here we are - Thanks

You could try the Image trace panel or the pen tool.

the whole point is to avaoid wasting time manually tracing every image, everytime I need to make a quick decal.
