Create Fills and Strokes and Stroke settings greyed in Illustrator Image Trace

Using Image Trace in Illustrator, the Create Fills and Stroke function in the settings panel is greyed out.

The "Stroke" setting just below the Create Fills and Strokes line is also greyed out.

How can I activate and use these settings?
