Question

Create Outlines my Type ---> still showing in Find Font

Greetings,

I have had this issue for a long time and finally reached the boiling point.

If I convert all my live type via: select all... Type>create outlines

I would expect that when I look under Find Font that I would not see any Fonts in Document. This is not the case for any document that I interact with, wether I create the document or edit it. I would normally not be concerned about this but outside vendors are getting RIP errors with the files still looking for linked fonts even though the document is outlined.

Has anyone encountered this issue? The work around I have found is to take the outlined document and copy/paste into a new document. This can cause workflow errors and I would not like to introduce this as the fix.

     Any ideas?

Jason

just had this annoying issue when sending a package folder to client. i found out that the file outlined, when going to "Type > Find/Replace Font" there were "missing" some fonts.

I copied+pasted all objects on a brand new file, revised the font box and there no more missing fonts. // aparently is an issue from the original file but idk how to solve it from there

now to re-work and copy+past each layer to blank files!

    hope this helps anyone!

I just had to deal with a lingering font issue. Turned out the fonts were in several symbols. I've also ran into fonts in patterns that aren't outlined. I wish that outlining fonts would outline all fonts... Hope this helps folks when searching!

I just had this same issue, and it turned out I had accidentally "hidden" a font object. I have no idea how; I thought I had deleted the text object. It didn't show at all--not even in outline view--and could not be selected, so I couldn't figure out why "find font" kept saying a font was in there. Just in case it helps anyone else, here's the solution I found: Go to Object<Show all. In my case, the text object reappeared, and I could then delete it normally.

Is your file a .pdf, .ai or .eps?

Try opening it in Acrobat, under File> Properties> fonts what does it say? Can you post a screen shot?

I suspect you have an unembedded font, which cannot be outlined.

If this is the case, you should ask for a new file (pdf) with correctly embedded fonts. The fonts may be a "free" font downloaded from the internet that does not allow embedding or outlining and should be replaced with an unrestricted font.

You can try Tools> Print Production> Flattener Preview> Convert all text to outlines (In Acrobat) or try a preflight fixup, but I'm not sure this will work.

Hard to reproduce. When I outline type, the name disappears in the Find Font dialog.

    Which Illustrator version, OS?

    Do you use fontmanagement software?

    Hi Ton,

         Illustrator CC 21.1.0

         OS X 10.10.5

I do use Suitcase Fusion. I will have to do a deeper dive into the issue and uninstall Suitcase to see if that is the problem. As a quick test, I unhocked the plugin, sign-out of Suitcase, restarted Ill and received the same issue. It would be nice to blame suitcase but I do not think that is it.

Just a FYI; I tried to replicate the issue with a wholly original document created on my machine and could not. Reflecting back, the files I have the issue with are from my client. When looking at there file info, I see this: Saved As v.17 Created by v.21.0.0. What is v.17? A early version of CC?

When I take there file and copy/past into my own new document, I do not get this error. I guess I will have to just start doing this as the first step rather than the last with these documents.

Strange, is it a particular font?

When I look at Illustrator files in Bridge, they show what fonts are used, but they don't show the fonts tab when everything is outlined.

Are you sure they are not on any locked/hidden layer?

v.17 is the first CC version.
