Create Outlines not working for brush-strokes. Help!

I've tried updating the OS on both my Macbook and iMac with no change. I can create outlines with text, but if I try on any kind of brush stroke the option isn't even available. Not sure why I'm running into this really simple issue. Someone help, please!!

Sounds as you are trying to use outline text on a stroke.

Object >> Expand Apperance
