Create Path

Question

Hi , I am very new to Illustrator and am having trouble converting our logo to a svg file to them use for uniforms etc

because the tap part is the same path as the background when i expand and then select same fill colour it takes the tap with it . How do i make the tap stay white ???? Thanks in advance

Without seeing your path outlines and the layers palette nobody can tell you much. The assumption therefore has to be that you did not generate duplicate paths e.g. using Pathfinder or manually to actualyl have separate objects to fill. Since this is so basic it seems to me you might want to watch one or two tutorials and read the help first before diving in.
