Creating a clipping mask in only stroke of word

Hi there,

Im trying to create a clipping mask that will work on only the outline of the text to get the letters perfectly cut by the 2 colours. So far I've typed the text and created outlines. I've tryed creating an opacity mask and clicking compund paths as I found in a few posts on here but it won't seem to work, any help? Thanks!

Oops, Thank you Monika it did work! I think in my haste of trying a bunch of ways I forgot to have it outlined when doing this.

Glad you could get it to work!

An opacity mask should have worked as well without the need to outline strokes. But if you don't mind outlining, then your solution looks perfect.

It should work with an opacity mask. Can you perhaps show the result of your try?

Hi Monika,

Everything just seems to disappear when I try this, but maybe I'm doing it incorrectly?
