Creating a logo with a sunset. Issue with blending mode.

Hi there, I'm pretty new to Illustrator so please bear with me. I have a couple quick questions. I'm creating a logo with a sunset. I'm using the radial gradient tool and setting the blending mode to screen. In Illustrator, the effect is pretty close to how I would like it. However, when I export it, it looks as if the blending mode is changed back to normal (see pic). What's going on here and how should I fix it ?

 

Also, I realize when it comes to a logo, it should be quite simple. Could you guys please take a look at mine and tell me if it's too complex.

    And when you export it, exactly how do you export and then use it?

    Appreciate the reply. I'm saving it as a SVG (this is what I was told to do for a logo). When I export as a JPEG though, it seems to work fine. I'll be using the logo on my website and ultimately would like it blown up to use on apparel, etc.
