Creating a rainbow heart rate wave shape in illustrator

Hi

I'm trying to create a rainbow heart rate style wave with rounded peaks and flatlines.  But I haven't a clue where to start and is illustrator the righ place?

The colours need to be stack on top of each other with no gaps between them

Would appreciate a little direction as to which tool/process to use.

Thanks for you help in advance

default49s,

Based on another (mis)interpretation, with the colouring reflecting the height/amplitude, you can:

1) Create a sufficiently large (Group of) rectangle(s) and apply the colouring to that, either with bands of solid colours or with soft transitions (both can be made with a linear gradient),

2) Move/create the wave (maybe best made with the Pen Tool) in front of the rectangle (Group) from 1), then select both and Ctr/Cmd+7 to create a Clipping Mask/set.

Or what Doug said.

And what Chris said.

Definatly look up an authentic heart rythm.  you probably don't want your artwork to reflect a heart attack or a dying patient.

Draw and colour seven stacked rectangles. Drag them to the brushes panel and create an art brush. Apply it to any path.
