Question

Creating Transparent Image for Prezi

New to Illustrator, I am trying to create an image that is white with a transparent background that can be inserted into a Prezi document. Every export file type I have used (png, jpeg, pdf and svg) either has a white background or becomes pixaleted when zooming in.

What can i do to create a large, high resolution white image in Adobe?

Hi Kimberley

As Om said, this might be a job for Photoshop. Which version of Ai are you using?

If you prefer to work in Illustrator, you can go to

File, Export, Export As... and choose PNG.

I'll send a screen shot to show you the options. Hope this helps!

Hi Both,

Thank you for your answers.

I am using Illustrator 2017 CC.

The image I've created is a line and circle based vector, primarily in white that I want to overlay onto a photograph that has already been inserted into Prezi. When I insert the PNG version of the file, as directed above, the image becomes pixelated as soon as I zoom in, unlike the photograph behind it.

I read that for optimum results, to save the Illustrator image as a PDF however this maintains a white background, even when the transparent option is selected, so that the white image cannot be seen.

I'm not sure there is an answer.....

Sure it becomes pixelated, because a PNG is no longer a vector file.

Hi Kimberley,

This is ideally a Photoshop work you are talking about. Illustrator is not an ideal app for image editing. You can check this tutorial, it talks about Auto tracing and Resolution: Auto-tracing and resolution in Illustrator | Adobe Illustrator CC tutorials

Feel free to input your feedback and queries.

Regards,

Om
