CS5 all dialog boxes too narrow to use

All of the dialog boxes open but are only about 72 to 150 pixels wide (depending on the tool) and stretch from the top of the screen to the bottom.  There is no type or buttons visible in the boxes.  I can use the escape key to get out of them, but I can not use anything in the box.  This also is the same for the stroke, align and pathfinder windows.  The save as dialog box seems to work fine, but the print does not.  Here are some screen shots.  Thanks in advance!

After multiple restarts of illustrator and the computer, deleting the preferences files (multiple times), reinstalling illustrator (twice), putting back the old preference files and trying again, installing and uninstalling ResizeEnable, then one more frustrated restart of the computer, everything seems to be back to normal.  Go figure!?!?!?  Maybe this will help someone else.
