CS5 Inconsistant Ability to Use Stylus

I recently got a touch screen laptop and I'd like to be able to use a stylus to draw on the screen in my CS5 programs, particularly Illustrator. However, I am having trouble getting the stylus to consistently draw. One line I draw will work just fine, and the next line I try to draw won't show up at all - as if I had never done anything. I can't find any pattern to what lets me draw a line and what doesn't - I've varied the pressure, the angle, etc. and it still seems to be complete chance whether or not my line shows up on the screen. I can draw the exact same line 10 times in a row and it will work randomly only a few of those 10 times. The problem is the same in both Illustrator and Photoshop. However, if I open up a non-Adobe program and start drawing, I have no issues, so whatever the problem is seems to be limited to CS5. How can I fix this?

There's an issue with Illustrator CS5 on Windows 10: it's not fully compatible and we don't know which parts of it break.

So even if the tablet itself works, the issue can still be with the incompatiblity. On top of that all Illustrator has issues with tablets that are not either Wacom or Microsoft Surface. Those issues can often be solved, but there haven't been too many threads (if any at all) about the HP Pavilion.

You could try if there is anything to be found via the forum search
