CS6 - Align To Pixel Grid Abscence Causing Snapping Hell

Seems snapping is a common issue for CS6 with the default settings.

All my snapping options under view are inactive & Align New Objects to Pixel Grid has been deselected in the Transform panel but snapping is still not snapping to where I want it.

Looking at other CS6 posts I'm missing the circled box.

    Erm F1 - help. Not sure if it happens in Illustrator but it cetainly does in Photoshop https://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WS58a04a822e3e5010-1f09756312695358696-8000.html . It's theft, paid £3k for software and the help files have been deleted files after a few years.

    As for your snapping issue.

    It's an object based setting. You have to select the objects and then turn it off. You have to also turn it off for new objects by unchecking the "Align new artwork to the pixel grid" in the transform panel's menu.

    Or even better turn that option off in your new document profile, so you don't have to care for it again.

    And if that doesn't help, please post example screenshots of where snapping is not working for you.

    I'm using Adobe Illustrator version 25.4.1 (2021) on a MacBook Pro with OS Mojave. The "Show Options" feature of the Transform Palette is selected. (Whether it is selected or not, the palette wastes about 4 square inches of my work space by displaying a blank gray area in which it says: "No Shape Properties.")

     

    When the “Show Options” box is checked it displays under the wasted space two box options: "Scale Corners" and "Scale Strokes and Effects." As for the user who posted the original question of this discussion, for me there is also no box option for "Align to Pixel Grid."

     

    It's very annoying to have points and larger objects snap all over the place with no obvious way to stop this behavior. Is this a user-unfixable bug, bad design, or am I missing something? Please help.

    That behaviour can be accessed with Snap to Pixel from the View menu and Object > Make Pixel Perfect.

    In the version of Illustrator that I use, under the "View" Menu there is no listing for "Object." Nothing I've been able to find, therefore, for "Pixel Perfect."

    I'm trying to configure the help files to load locally Use offline Help in Adobe products, haven't had any luck yet as the help files do not launch if not connected to the internet (contrary to the article; despite having the file paths as spec'd). Hopefully the link helps someone out in the future.

    Dalski,

    In addition to what Doug said, if you have objects already Aligned, you may select everything and then untick Align to Pixel Grid in the Transform palette, and also untick Align New Objects to Pixel Grid in the flyout options. It is crucial that the box is completely unticked, not just a - which also counts as ticked.

    It may be noted that even if Align to Pixel Grid is unticked with all objects selected, as long as Align New Objects to Pixel Grid is ticked the creation of new objects will result in those new objects being aligned, even when they are created from existing objects as may happen with Pathfinder operations.

    You may avoid document types with that as default (RGB for web and the like) or change the default for such documents.

      Sorry I think I misread there... if you want to see the 'Align to pixel grid' checkbox, look in the menu for the transform panel and check 'Show Options'.

          No thanks, to be ripped off paying a subscription never actually owning the software!

          Also then to remove help files on previous versions to force existing customers to subscribe to cloud based software is quite unscrupulous.

          I am not objecting to your stance in any way - actually agree for the most part... just want to clarify that you never "actually own..." the software - if you bought anything prior to CC, you own a license to use the software, not the software.
