Curvature Tool keeps changing path to basic.

Hi, I've been using Illustrator on my windows PC for over 1.5 year and i do use Curvature Tool to create outlines quite often. Why whenever i click Curvature Tool on my new Mac the program change the brush from selected to Basic Path. How do I change it so it works as on Windows. Thanks for help.
