Question

Curved lines in illustrator appear jagged and it appears in other abode apps too

Suddenly a few days ago my curved lines in Illustrator started to appear jagged/pixilated. I exported it as a high-quality JPEG but it's still there. I viewed it on one of my college's good computers to see if it was just a GPU/CPU/screen resolution thing on my computer. It still appeared in the JPEG so it appears to be actually affecting the artwork but I'm no expert. I wanted to make them copy artwork into animate and it also appears in animate before and after I export it. Actually, it looks a lot worse when I put and render it in animate. Does anyone know if this is a bug or maybe a virus? Can anyone else see the jagged/pixilated edges? It's not that bad but it still makes the artwork blurry. If you can't see it then it might be a screen resolution issue. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and restarting my computer but it didn't do anything. It also appears in InDesign but I don't think as bad. Also, it doesn't appear on any artwork I did before a few days ago when it started but it does on anything new I make. Any ideas? I keep having different kinds of resolution issues with Illustrator even after getting a better computer and I'm getting pretty desperate.

default1,

"I viewed it on one of my college's good computers to see if it was just a GPU/CPU/screen resolution thing on my computer."

Did you view the actual/same AI document on that computer?

"Suddenly a few days ago my curved lines in Illustrator started to appear jagged/pixilated."

Sometimes that can be a sign of something becoming corrupted or otherwise gone wrong. Did anything else happen at that time?

Depending on the zoom level, the screenshots/images seem to be within the expectable, including the lowest two paths with their slight curvature at the bottom.

I just went to check if it's affecting Premiere since I have a school project I need to start soon and the text does seem more jarred. Especially around some curves of the E, p, and T.

I really don't see what you mean. Your monitor uses pixels to display artwork and there's no way around that.

I guess I have a bad monitor because no one likes it when I say you're displaying an "infinite" Gaussian vector on a "discreet" pixel display. You gotta expect some compromise.

What size is this?

If it's 200inches wide and you're seeing pixellation in your jpg, then you're not exporting at the correct resolution.

If it's 200 pixels, then there's only so much information you can squeeze into 200 pixels (200 pixels worth!)

Any reason it has to be jpg? If it's for print use pdf, if it's for web, try svg...

The example is around 8.5x11 but I first noticed it when working on a smaller artwork that wasn't any bigger than 3-4 inches.

I was just using a jpeg for a demonstration. It also areas in png's and in high-quality print pdf's. I'm just very confused about why it's showing up in Illustrator, jpegs, png, PDFs, etc., and why a direct Illustrator file would look so bad when I export it as HD in Animate.

Just have a question. You export the artwork as high-quality JPEG, but what about its resolution? The vector itself can't be pixelated, but converted to raster it extremely depends on the resolution settings.

Would be great if you could share a vector file for some experiments and say the exact export settings.

Thanks for your reply. My original one was a medium resolution I believe. This is a high resolution of 300ppi. It looks better. There are still some jagged edges.
