Question

custom Workspace resets to default after reopening Illustrator 2023

I am working in Illustrator 2023. I created a custom workspace, named and saved it. The work space seems to carry throughout different files that are opened. As soon as I close and reopen the program, all of my recent customizations are gone. Please help. Thanks!

Hi @Jared328389769tvm,

I see you're experiencing a workspace-saving issue in Adobe Illustrator 2023. While Monika provided some helpful suggestions, it seems like you've already tried resetting preferences with no success.

One additional step you might consider is updating Adobe Illustrator to the latest version, which is currently 28.0. Sometimes, updating the software can resolve unexpected behavior and save your workspace settings correctly.

If updating to version 28.0 doesn't resolve the issue, and it persists even after a program closes and re-opens, I recommend sharing your preferences folder with us. I will forward it to the product team for further investigation.

I hope this helps and you can get your workspace settings saved as expected!

Best,

Hello!

Thank you for your response. I just updated .Ai to the latest version. Unfortunately, this did not solve my issue. I did layout a new workspace and also renamed it. I closed the program to see if the workspace panels would stay where I like them and did not have any luck. What would be the next step to take? Thanks

The program seems to keep default panels where I like them but as soon as I start adding color books and such, those don't reappear on a fresh program open...

Did Illustrator crsh when you closed it? That would mean that the preferences did not save correctly which would then lead to the loss of the workspace.

No, there wasn't a crash. It happens on a standard .AI program close and re-open...

Did you already reset your preferences?

That will erase your settings, so you might want to do it by renaming the preferences folder, since that can be made undone in case it doesn't help.
