Customizable Panel?

Question

A few people make third party custom tear off tabs for Photoshop in which they/I would build a custom panel containing some of my most used commands.

I probably need to dig into the actions features in Illustrator...that might be the solution? In Photoshop, I have my actions set to button mode, which essentially does what I am asking for here.

Any help or discussion would be appreciated.

Basically, Illustrator's and Photoshop's Actions palettes have similar features (including the button mode that is available in both applications). Photoshop, though, does support way more commands and unlike Illustrator virtually everything can be recorded.

However, as per your description the button mode in Illustrator may be sufficient. Try it out.
