Customizing Control Panel in Illustrator

Question

How do I customize the control panel at the top of the screen? When I go to the control panel options and deselect items that I don't use, nothing happens. Also, I'm used to "Character" being on the far left and cannot move it from the center.

Hi @o77o,

Thanks for reaching out. The Control panel in Illustrator has limited customization, so while you can select which option groups appear, their position in the panel can't be freely rearranged. That's why 'Character' stays centered. However, if you uncheck all other options and keep only 'Character' selected, it should then move to the left. If deselecting items still doesn't update the panel, could you confirm which version of Illustrator and which OS you’re using?
