Data Merge in Illustrator

I have a yacht club diagram with all the boats on the hard (winter storage).   The boats changes positions sometimes.   I have a list of boats and their positions.   I want to update the diagram with the new data each year.   I think I will need a lot of variables, there are 200 boats and each boat have two attributes to be displayed.    I have one diagram, with 200 data points to be added.   Help! 

I think I need to setup 200 variables with their positions on the hard.   Is that correct?
