Question

Dear Illustrator, you are frustrating the heck out of me: Moving small objects

The first thing I want to do when I grab an object is MOVE it. NOT change the radius of the corner, NOT rotate it. The amount of zooming in and out I do just to move a damn object is incredible.

My personal setting for Illustrator includes:

    • Hide the bounding box.
    • Anchor Point and Handles for my age
    • Object selection by path only.
    • And sometimes I set the angle to a ridiculous amount in the "Hide Corner Widget thingy >>

Just turn off for standard demos and teaching.

Hide the Bounding Box (or grab the center).

Deselect first  then grab the object

    alidebo,

You can make an action or a shortcut for Object>Shape>Expand Shape.

    For the latter, you may:

Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts>Menu Commands>Object>Shape>Expand Shape, then click the first little box to the right, then press the desired key on the keyboard, then press OK, and name it.

This is what Live Shapes are about:

To overcome the lack of side boxes on the Bounding Box, you can (Shift)ClickDrag it from one of the corners, or switch to the Free Transform Tool, in addition to expanding.

And you can send a bug report/feature request, maybe about the new feature(s) being optional:
