Default CMYK col setting

Can you tell me how to set my document default to CMYK. I set the document colour mode to CMYK, changed colour settings to CMYK. Yet when I open new "print" document I still get the RGB colour swatches. Should I not get CMYK ?

Yes you should, selecting a Print preset gives you CMYK.

If you have a Print CMYK preset selected, but during the creation of the document selected RGB, than all new documents created after that will default to that.

Try to select a New document from the Print presets.
