Default Units changes after restart

After updating Ai CC to v22 2018, I was having issues opening a dwg (AutoCad) file that I have opened in the past with no issues. The file was displaying smaller, and the strokes were larger. I found out that in my preferences, my "General" measurements was changed to "Points" after applying the update (I always had it as Inches). I changed to inches, open the same file with no issues. With no document open, I checked my preferences again and checked the General Until measurement was set as Inches, and then quit Ai. Restarted it and went into my preferences and it's back to Points.

Is there a new feature or way to change Ai's preferences I am missing? In the past I was always able to modify with no open documents, and whatever I changed remained every time I used the application.

Another user I worked with confirmed this, as we were both experiencing the same issue and was trying to figure out what was going on before finding this.

It also seems odd that opening a file with Points as your default measurement would display differently then opening the exact same file with Inches as your measurements. This could cause a lot of issues collaborating and working with teams since people have their own personal preferences.

      I'm having the exact same issue as well since updating to CC2018.  I tried two things first that should have worked: (1) changing the units under preferences and (2) right clicking on the ruler and changing it to inches.  No luck.  Here is what worked, oddly: Start a new document (File>New), in the window that pops up, set the units to inches.  Then click create.  For some reason that works, it keeps those settings even after closing and reopening.

        I had an update this morning I ran, and that also seemed to resolve the issue.

        The units in the Preferences change to the units of the last document that you created.

        That has not changed with the current 22.0.1 update.

        Modify with no open documents works in InDesign.

        Already did that. In OP after quitting and re launching it changes back. Had no issues with this until the recent update

        It seems that the units in the Preferences change to the units of the last document that you created.
