Modern programs like Sketch and Figma have auto-height text boxes that grow in height as the copy increases. Can we adopt this feature in Illustrator?

You can turn that on in either the text area options or generally in the Preferences > Type

Thanks. I feel like this could be implemented a lot better. Feels very cumbersome. There really should be a 3 item toggle (properties panel?) for quick conversions to:

  • Single height
  • Fixed height
  • Auto height

And there shouldn't be an overset text penalty if converting to single height.
