Question

Direct selection tool deselects envelope warp after making an edit.

Hello,

I am looking for help regarding my direct-selection tool being buggy suddenly. After making an envelope warp I use the direct-selection tool to manipulate the location of anchorpoints and adjust their handles. For whatever reason Illustrator some times requires me to click twice on an object to get to see the anchor points and then after manipulating a handle or an anchor point location the entire object will automatically deselect. This is 1) incredibly frustrating and 2) slows down my workflow like crazy. Editing a warped object used to be smooth sailing.

I am running Illustrator 26.0.2 on 12.0.1 Monterrey MacBook Pro.

I can reproduce the issue with envelopes that are created with the "Make with Mesh" command, but mysteriously only if I set the mesh to exactly 2 rows and 4 columns.

Apparently, it's a bug.

I'm not able to replicate the issue. You may need to uninstall/reinstall using Adobe CC Cleaner Tool. https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

I have tried using the Adobe CC Cleaner tool, twice in fact, and both times
upon reinstalling Illustrator the issue continues to happen.

WHen was the last time you rebooted that Macbook?

The same day. I had tried rebooting multiple times. I even tried resetting my illustrator preferences. The issue still persists.
