Disable image border snapping for images with masks

How can I disable the image border snap for images with mask?

When I try to select or create a shape in an empty are in a documento with multiple images with masks, the "smart" guides keep snaping to theses "ghost" image borders. Almost 99% of the time this is NOT what I want, so there must be a ways to disable this, right?

And disabling smart guides is not the sollution.

The constat flahing of these lines on the screen is very annoying. I recorded a video showing the behaviour that I'm talking about.

Hi Equipe31220503p7ud,

I understand that you're experiencing issues with smart guides snapping to image borders, especially when working with images with masks in Adobe Illustrator. To resolve this and stop the snapping behavior, you can try the following steps:

  • Isolation Mode: Double-click on the image with the mask that you want to work on. This action should isolate the selected object. In this mode, the smart guides are less likely to snap to other objects outside the isolated group.

  • Outline Mode: You can switch to Outline Mode to see the paths and shapes without any snapping guides.

To enter Outline Mode, press Ctrl + Y (Windows) or Command + Y (Mac). When you're done, you can switch back to Preview Mode using the same keyboard shortcut.
  • Raster Images: If your images with masks are raster images (like JPEG or PNG), you can convert them to embedded objects or use linked images. To do this, select the image and, go to the "Object" menu, then choose "Rasterize".
  • Keyboard Shortcut: You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + U (Windows) or Command + U (Mac) to toggle smart guides on and off when needed.

These steps should help you reduce the snapping of smart guides to unwanted objects while working with images and masks in Adobe Illustrator. Try the methods that work best for your workflow, and hopefully, it will make your work less frustrating and more efficient.

Best,
