Disable "Save when closed" impossible?

I do not want anything to auto save. If I wanted to save, I would use the save button.

Am I missing something?

There is no way to disable the auto save when you close a document.

Yes, I have disabled everything related to auto saving in the preferences and file handling, but it will still auto save when closed.

The directory on my computer is not a cloud document.

Don't use Illustrator Cloud documents (.aic), there is no way to stop the saving.

I totally understand that you want to control when and what to save.
