Discretionary hyphen doesn't work in illustrator

Hi

The discretionary hyphen in illustrator v29.2.1 doesn't seem to work.

It works fine in InDesign v20.0.1

I'm writing in Icelandic and there's not a hyphenation system in place for that language, so I toggled the automatic hyphenation off.

Is this a bug for Adobe to fix or am I doing something wrong?

    It doesn't work. The discretionary hyphen is ignored, and Adobe's very poor auto-hyphenation is used. It's a massive problem, when doing area text in Illustrator.

    Can you see the discretionary hyphen when the Show Hidden Characters is active?
