Does AI Alert when another user is in same AI file

At work we have multiple designers who can access files over a server. Is there any way in Illustrator to alert us when somebody is in the same document? Example: In InDD there is a feature that alerts you when somebody is in the file that you are trying to access. Is there anything like that in AI?

Thanks,

MattO

Hi Matt,

Thanks for reaching out. If I get it, you are looking for a workflow in which if two people are working simultaneously on the same file, they can be notified that the file is in use or the file is open on any other system? If yes, I am afraid this feature is not available in Illustrator at the moment however it does sound like a great feature request. I will pass on this to our Product team and you can do that too here:

This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future release.

Let us know if that helps or you need any further assistance.

Unfortunately there is no alert to warn when 2 people open the same file. Adobe had version cue in previous versions, but that made the issue worse and respect Adobe for removing.  You need to handle this with your workflow.

Flienaming. 10142019_description_01.  When starting a job first thing to so is change the date and version number. If you have a version number in the slug, that will help if someone is doing revisions for a printout with the slug. The date can alert someone that some else worked on this recently.

Moving file: you can have someone temporaily make a folder called in progress todays date, and they can move the file into there, and move back when done.

I owdl need to know your workflow intimately as you do to properly make a suggesitons, but hopefully this stimulates some ideas.
