Hi, I am currently using a 2020 27" iMac (OS Monterey, 3.3Ghz 6 core Intel Core i5, 40GB of Ram). When opening a fairly small file (less than 5mb) its extremely laggy. I've updated it to the newest version, restarted the program and restarted my computer. Nothing seems to speed it up even when it's the only program running. When a 5 minute job takes a half an hour, its very irritating.
Does anyone else have fix for this problem?

Sorry to hear about this experience. I hope the suggestions shared by Monika helped resolve the problem. If not, kindly try resetting Illustrator's preferences by following the steps shared in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-preference-issues.html) and sharing your observations.
Disclaimer: Please note that resetting preferences will remove all custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with the defaults. You may take a backup of these settings from the location mentioned in the article.
