Does anyone know how to do this with any object in illustrator? Enveloppe distort?

You can do it by hand but it is not the Envelope. It is using the Warp tool but you need to add Anchor points to anchor down the object then make sure you do not select the points you want to keep anchored and warp the points only the points you select. I would be happy to give you a tutorial but it might be easier with a plugin.

The WidthScribe plugin can probably do this.
