Don't know how to embed color in this photo

Question

I just started designing in illustrator, and I ran into this problem while making an animal. I couldn't fill the part of the elephant with color and also I am having a hard time connecting pen tool stroke in one thing. Hope you help me with this.

It worked!! Thanks, you're the Man! And just a quick question how do I connect pen tool in Adobe Illustrator?

A lot of these lines cannot be connected. You cannot make connections where 3 lines meet.

Hi @Khan30377057ejja,

I hope you're enjoying Illustrator so far 🙂 I would suggest the following:

- make a single outline / silhouette of the elephant shape that will have the grey fill (no inner details)

- to add a black stroke, there are two options: either choose Path > Offset Path, or you can add a black stroke from within your colour palette

- then, either add more anchor points to draw in the interior black lines (for example, to define the ear), or draw additional black lines individually with a tool of your choice (pen, or brush, for example)

Something else that may help is to expand the stroke into outlines so you can merge all of the black together, and everywhere you want to be grey.
