Download file on one computer and it shows up on another?

I work on a secured network and have an adobe creative cloud account at my work. I was downloading Illustrator .ai files from Adobe Stock. I downloaded several and they all went to my download folder on my work computer. When I got home, Illustrator was open on my home computer and one of the files I downloaded was open. I feel like this is crazy. I have not used Illustrator (yes its the same account) on my home computer in months. I just don't understand how or why this happened. How does this work and how do I prevent it from happening again?

When you download them, then they might indeed get opened automatically. Happened to me as well. And when this happens they will open on all computers that are logged in currently.

Did you log into your creative cloud account also at home? Creative Cloud is called Creative Cloud because there is some cloud technology involved. But your download folder is not shared (probably) by Creative Cloud. You have most likely a library shared between your home system and your work system. If you are using the same Adobe ID, that is even completely normal, as the libraries are part of the cloud system.

To avoid this, you should avoid singing up at home with your professional account.

But it still shouldn't have automatically opened Illustrator on her home computer, right? That's what seems weird.

Yes. Very weird! The computer is my husbands and he never uses Illustrator. But I get the cloud technology situation. I am going to remove the program from the computer. Problem solved. Thank you!
