Downloaded Font no longer working

Hi, I downloaded a font to illustrator a month ago and have been using it with no issue. Now it won't type, the font seems invisible as it shows the cursor and appears to type and after I can highlight the typed space however nothing is seen, certain characters like period and parentheses do type just not letters. My other docs with this font still show the previous typed text but I can't type anything new.I've tried uninstalling and reinstallling the font from various websites and restarting illustrator (it's updated). Any suggestions are appreciated! Thank you.
