Drawing in Illustrator

Hi,

I'm trying to expand my knowledge and skills in Illustrator but I'm stuck on how to create drawings in the best way. I attached a reference (credit: Chez Núñez). I'm looking to create pretty simple illustrations but more in a "realistic" paper way than typical digital art.

Do you know of any good tutorials that I can check out?

These drawings are perfect examples for using the pen tool or the pencil tool and just draw. There's no other trickery to them apart from maybe reflecting a thing here or there.

 

Are you referring to the stipple in parts of the example?

Hi as is already told by @Monika Gause best way is to make a rough sketch and then use a pen tool to make shapes and fill colors.regards
