Drop Shadow parameters

in Adobe illustrator, my unit preferences are set to millimeters.

When applying a drop shadow the parameters for offstes etc are in inches.

Inch increments make the shadow jump large distances.

This is quite useless and annoying. I don't have time to input long numbers for each change in distace of the shadow.

How about sliders?

Why cant the shadow units be set to pixels so the increments are much less?

Or surely they should be in the same units as my preference.

Help!!!!!!

Yet another annoyance from Adobe.

Please stop changing stuff that doesn't help

    What is the document unit?

Right-click in the ruler to check (and change)

    Many thanks

I didn't know that feature existed.
I was working with a Stock image and obviously the document settings were
    in Inches

    Problem solved.

    Thanks again

    You're welcome.

Units in Illustrator are a document based setting. The Units in the preferences are only used when a document doesn't have such a setting, such as in pixel images when you open them in Illustrator (instead of placing them)

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
