Duplicate files being saved

I'm glad to hear the issue seems to have gone away on its own. If it happens again, please try resetting Illustrator preferences after backing them up, as that usually clears out these random switches. It would also help if you could share your OS and Illustrator version so we can check this more closely in case it reappears. Let me know if you notice it again or spot any pattern around when it happens.

Must be similiar to preferences being randomly turned on and off
