Duplicate layers

Hey,

I want to duplicate a layer and place it.

When I select an entire layer and duplicate it with alt to duplicate and place, it duplicate object inside the same layer.

How can I duplicate a layer and place it (like the alt method) without duplicating objects inside the same layer ?

In the layers panel, select the name area of the layer and drag it to the + sign at the bottom of the panel.

Or select duplicate from the panel menu.
