Question

DXF Exports - Blocks within Blocks?

Hi all,

Beginner to Illustrator here. I've recently updated to Illustrator 28.5 to create DXF files for our laser engraver (which in turn uses EZCad2 14.11).

When I export to DXF from this version of Illustrator, EZCad does not display the text objects. Upon investigating by opening the DXF files with AutoCAD, I found that text was converted to splines and hatches inside a block...that is inside another block.

This did not happen when I was using Illustrator 24.3; text exported as splines and hatches in blocks. DXF files exported from this version had no issues with EZCad. The final redundant block, I presume, is why it does not import properly.

Is there any way to remedy this? Thanks! I've attached my current DXF export settings.

There have been changes in the DXF engine in Illustrator.
