Hi gang,

I have questions about this feature in Illustrator: Edit menu > My Settings > Export Settings

1. Why is there no help file discussion on this feature?

2. What does it gather?

3. What does it not include?

4. Why does it make a file with no filename-ending?

5. Can it be edited?

6. Does it work? Old forum discussions from 2014 suggest that it does not work.

7. Will it work cross-platform?

8. What is its intended purpose?

9. When did it first show up in Illustrator?

Can anyone illuminate why this feature is here?

Best,

Mike Witherell in Maryland

Here is what I found by unzipping the file: While it does not show up in the help file system, it appears to back up the following features:

    Custom PDF joboption presets

Something named AI22Settings which covers ... what?

Under en_US: Adobe Illustrator Cloud Prefs, AI Color Settings, custom keyboard shortcuts, Modified Workspaces, New Document Profiles, Workspaces (again)

Under Settings: color management custom settings files; and custom Hyphenation Exceptions and User Dictionaries

I doubt it is cross-platform entirely. Has anyone ever tried to import it across platforms?

You can add the filename extension .zip to it.

Then unpack it and inspect it. This might answer most of your questions.
