Question

Editing an eps image set in Illustrator

Hi

I have downloaded and eps (vector) stock image of a book cover. Both front and back covers are in the same image. I'm new to Illustrator and want to split the two images so that I can import and place them separately into InDesign.

Please help.

simplest way might be to make two artboards, both the size of a single side, and position the cover so the front half is on one, duplicate it, and place it so the back half is on the other, i.e.:

then when you're placing in InDesign, be sure that 'show import options' is checked so you can choose between artboards.

Doug - Thx, it looks as if this will work well. What file format would you save the artboard in the ensure best print quality?

use an illustrator file with PDF compatibility turned on.
