Effect>Texture>Stain Glass, how to make it seamless???

In Illustrator, is there a way to use the filter, Effect>Texture>Stain Glass and make it seamless???

This is just a personal challenge.

I plan on using Image Trace and turn it into vector.

My end goal is to make a seamless pattern.

Thank you in advance.

K

Kurt, Thank you.

Actually, I work with Illustrator 2020 (24.03.0), so I did not have a problem opening up your file.

I know your file represented a lot of work. Thank you.

I noticed your patterns are composed of raster images.

My hopeful was to create a vector seamless pattern and start with Stain Glass.

I thought it would be easy but it wasn’t.

So today is another day.

I ended up just creating a similar seamless pattern using the Pen Tool.

So, after a few cups of coffee this morning, this is what I came up with.

I was just messing with it, having fun. 😀

I seem to remember that it actually is possible, but I could be mistaken.

Will have a look at my archive tomorrow and post something if there is something.

Image trace will not be that easy as you will have alot of connections to do on all 4 sides. To maek look symeterial and correct will be lots of work.

How large is your graphic, might be easier to just make one large graphic not repeating. You can make vector to make file faster and smaller file size.

Mike, right now, it was just a hopeful to figure out a way to use Stain Glass filter and turn it into a seamless pattern with very little effort.

I even tested in PS. Some filters do work to create seamless.

Dimensions that are powers of 2 will create a repeating tile. Lengths and widths do not have to be equal but they must be values such as 256, 512, 1024 etc...

Document size has to be power of 2

Ie, 128,256,512,1024

You can't. Perhaps you could get close, but it won't match exactly. Since Autotrace might ruin the effort anyway: maybe edit that after tracing?

Monika, thank you for your quick reply.

I tried so many ways to make it a seamless vector pattern!!! No avail.

For now I am going to can this idea. 🤔 🤔
