"Embedded Profile Mismatch" whilst using proper profile?

Hi.

I am trying to import a document with the FOGRA29 colour profile into Illustrator. When I open the document, it gives me the Embedded Profile Mismatch window, telling me the embedded colour profile is U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2. However, when I use or discard the profile and open the document anyway, the colour settings are configured to Uncoated FOGRA29 (which it should be) in Color Settings.

There is a linked Photoshop file in the document that is configured to FOGRA29 as well.

What am I doing wrong? Is the colour configuration at Edit > Color Settings only for preview purposes, as it doesn't seem to save my prefered colour profile and how would I go around changing it properly to FOGRA29 over US SWOP?

I have figured it out 🙂

For other people who might end up on this post someway or another:

Under Edit, there is a 2nd option after Color Profile called Assign Profile. Which obviously does exactly what it says; change the colour profile to what I intended.

Xander, the assign profile is a good option if you want to have a different profile without converting. Converting is generally not a good idea for vector artwork, it will cause blacks and 100% process colors to be made with multiple inks.

I would not use your monitor color as your RGB working space,  Nobody has a monitor like you, your monitor profile is used to display colors from various RGB spaces in a predictable way and is not meant as a working space.

I would also suggest to set your Color management Policies to Preserve Embedded Profiles for RGB and Preserve Numbers for CMYK. And to turn on the warnings for Mismatched and Missing profiles.

This might be a good article to read:

A document can have a different profile than those specified in your Color Settings.

Turn on the Show > Document Color Profile at the bottom of your document window.

Thank you Ton.

This option tells me my document's color profile is untagged CMYK, but I am not sure how I would go around changing this. The document settings are customized, but don't seem to be embedded into the document:

I find it odd, as I have been working with this profile from the start of creating this document. Other projects I have created with the same settings, appear to be fine.
