What is the best way to wrap text to fit a shape like in the picture? I've tried making with top object but it becomes a mess with the peaks in the mountains. Thanks.

The way the letters look in that image they simply must be drawn that way. Attemping to use an envelope filter will badly distort the letter strokes. There won't be any balance or harmony between the vertical and horitzontal strokes. It's one reason why artificially stretched and squeezed lettering looks so horrible.
